Therapy vs. Coaching & Other Support Options

There are many activities and professions that can support someone on their steps to improve their life. Whether or not they are Neurodivergent.

For example, breathing exercises or meditation can help to calm both the body and the mind.

Yoga is a brilliant way to start the day, and Pilates can assist recovery during physiotherapy.

Having a mentor can be a great way to learn new skills by observing and practicing the way they do things.

A learning buddy system can offer similar support.

Social meet-ups are fantastic for lifting one's mood and reducing isolation.

Therapy can also be deeply beneficial. It involves a thorough assessment of your developmental and emotional needs, such as working through trauma, addressing mental health challenges, or exploring systemic and relational factors.

Counselling, a form of talking therapy, offers a space to be heard, where a trained professional can help you to process emotions, in order to develop insight and understanding.

These are skilled, valuable approaches that can form part of a broader support system. And they can work extremely well alongside ADHD/AuDHD Coaching.

So what's different about coaching?

Coaching is present- and future-focused. It's not about treating you ADHD/AuDHD/Neurodivergence, or unpicking your past. Instead, it's about identifying your strengths, developing practical strategies, and setting clear, achievable goals.

As your coach, I'll help you build sustainable habits, navigate executive functioning challenges, and move toward the life that you want. Without burning out along the way.

Coaching is action-oriented and tailored. We'll co-create goals with measurable outcomes so you'll know exactly when you've reached them. And we'll celebrate those wins together.

I don't coach your ADHD/AuDHD/etc. directly. That's something a psychologist might do.

And while I have lived experience of being Autistic and having ADHD myself, I know that your path is unique.

What worked for me may not be what works best for you.

We'll keep sessions grounded in your experience and your goals.

With your permission, I may share parts of my own story if it's helpful. I may occasionally mentor, offer suggestions, or even refer you to other types of professionals if I believe they'd be helpful.

But your time is your time. Coaching is always in service of your growth.

I'm not a mental health practitioner, counsellor, therapist, or mentor.

am a CPD-certified ADHD Coach, accredited through ADHD Works, founded by Leanne Maskell, best selling author of AuDHD: Blooming Differently, and a respected activist for ADHD/AuDHD.

Coaching isn't one-size-fits-all

I focus on executive functioning as a foundation. Things like planning, organisation, time management, and emotional regulation. Whilst adapting our approach to meet your individual needs and challenges.

Together, we'll work towards clarity, confidence, and empowerment.
